Agathi Pafili (Past Speaker)

Agathi is a senior policy advisor working for the European Association for Funds and Asset Management (EFAMA) and has more than 15 years of experience in financial legislation and European regulatory affairs. She has put together the key position papers and led the advocacy work of the trade association on a number of key regulatory topics, such as the prudential regime for investment firms, risk management files (use of leverage in investment funds and liquidity risk management) and the impact analysis related to AIFMD’s implementation. Since 2018 Agathi is representing the European asset management industry in the Risk-Free Rate Working Group administered by the ECB, tasked with the transition from EONIA/Euribor to new risk free rates. In the same year she became a member of the EMMI Board, the administrative body of Euribor and EONIA. In both roles, Agathi is focused on presenting the challenges for the buy-side concerning the use of critical and interest rate benchmarks and the impact the transition to new rates will bring for portfolio managers and end investors. She is currently the coordinator of EFAMA’s Standing Committee on management companies’ regulation and together with the members of the Committee she sets the key priorities in view of the forthcoming review of the AIFMD and UCITS Directive.
